For payroll professionals, the annual Payroll Congress is a highlight of the year. It offers chances to network, learn, and have fun with thousands of like-minded individuals, from those just starting their careers to seasoned veterans.
This year’s conference — the 42nd in its long history — took place from May 7 to May 10 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center in the heart of Nashville, Tennessee, with the theme of “Total Payroll Transformation.”
This year’s keynote speakers
Throughout the conference, attendees could hear from various keynote speakers, with topics ranging from AI and the future of work to effective communication.
This year’s speakers included:
Shawn Kanungo, author and speaker
Shawn Kanungo, a best-selling author globally recognized innovation strategist, was this year’s opening night speaker. His keynote, “The Age of Infinity—Generative AI and Our Future,” examined how AI will transform how we work, collaborate, create, and more and how the future will favor unique and unconventional leaders.
Lynda Gratton, founder of HSM Advisory
Lynda Gratton, author and founder of HSM Advisory, was Wednesday’s general session speaker. In her presentation, “The Future of Work Is Now, and Here Is How to Thrive,” she discussed one of the most significant changes happening in the world of work right now — namely, that we’re all living and working longer. As we live and work longer, there will inevitably be more stages to a person’s career. During her insightful session, Lynda shared her tips for understanding and preparing for this major shift.
Kelly Swanson, CSP, CPAE
As this year’s closing speaker, motivational speaker Kelly Swanson used her session, “The Persuasion Principle: Connect and Engage Through the Power of Story,” to share six secrets for connecting and engaging with teams through the power of story. She also shared how to rewrite your inner script to overcome stress and motivate yourself and others.
Industry speakers and more
This year’s conference also included expert industry speakers Nadia Camarena, director of global payroll operations for Netflix, and Ryan Yannetta, VP of implementation for ExtensisHR.
Attendees could also dive deeper into critical payroll topics through workshops and demos throughout the conference.
The OneSource Virtual booth
As the quiet giant of payroll services for Workday customers, OneSource Virtual (OSV) had a significant presence on the conference floor as a silver sponsor.
We hosted our own private demo sessions on Wednesday, offering attendees an exclusive glimpse at how our transformative services work. Visitors to our booth also had the chance to snag some swag with our Plinko board, with prizes that included branded fanny packs, water bottles, and more.
Through these events, we demonstrated our unwavering commitment to cultivating meaningful connections and fostering camaraderie within the professional community.
Want to see what we demoed? We'd be happy to schedule one with you. Just contact us to get started. We'll also be showing showing a demo and recapping the conference with Workday on this June 6 webinar.
Celebrating fun and creativity off the conference floor
Besides all the learning opportunities through webinars and demos, the other primary reason to attend the annual Payroll Congress is to meet and have fun with other payroll professionals off the conference floor at official or ancillary events.
On Wednesday, attendees had the chance to dress up in costumes, individually or as a group, and enter one of the many contest categories for Fête!, the Payroll Congress Party. We had our own events off the conference floor, starting with a welcome reception Monday night before everything began, with another event on Tuesday night.
